After a year-long delay, due to Coronavirus, Dubai kicked off Expo 2020 with a star-studded opening ceremony. The organizers are aiming to stage the largest global gathering since the start of the pandemic.
This first-ever World Expo in the Middle East, Africa, and South Africa (MEASA) region is taking place in between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The event started on October 01, 2021, and will go on until March 31, 2022.
The theme of the event is ‘Connecting Minds and Creating the Future’ and it aims to inspire people through the sub-themes sustainability, mobility, and opportunity.
The Expo 2020 logo is inspired by a golden ring that represents ancient civilizations connected to the UAE. This cultural gathering is another affirmation that the UAE will always be a hub that gathers civilizations and aspires for innovation.
It is the greatest event where more than 190 countries are showcasing their cultures and innovations inside architecturally striking pavilions on the 438-hectare site. The event witnesses 60 shows every day and will have more than 200 restaurants at the venue.
Spending an estimated $7bn on the event, the Dubai government hopes to attract 25 million visitors over the next six months. This will definitely boost tourism and investment in the emirate.
Citizens of all countries are welcome to visit the United Arab Emirates if they are fully vaccinated with one of the World Health organization-approved Covid-19 vaccines. Visitors will have to wear masks, socially distance themselves and carry vaccination certificates and negative test reports in order to enter. At the first such event in the Middle East, 25 million people are expected to visit over six months.
